Type of fire extinguisher
Water based extinguishers:
Water based extinguishers can be, water and foam extinguisher, pure water extinguisher through a hose or mist extinguisher. They put out essentially by removing oxygen supply and cooling down the fire. It can put out Class A fires only. Class A fires result from ordinary combustibles, such as wood and paper. They should never be used to put out Class B (resulting from combustible liquids, such as kerosene, gasoline, oil, and grease) or C fire (resulting from circuit breakers, wires, outlets, and other electrical in nature fires).
Carbon dioxide:
This has compressed CO2 in the cylinder and works by removing oxygen supply from the fire. These types of fire extinguishers are effective at putting out Class B and C fires and do not work with Class A fires.
Dry Powder:
Dry Chemical fire extinguishers essentially extinguish the fire by interrupting the Fire triangle’s chemical reaction. The most commonly used form of fire extinguisher today is the dry chemicals with multipurpose that are effective on Class A, B, and C fires. This agent also acts on Class A fires by forming a buffer between the oxygen layer and the fuel element.
Since no fire can be safely and effectively used to remove all types of fires it all comes to you get the right type of extinguisher for your premises.
